I am always wary whenever hype surrounds a film. I am usually not one to fall into the hype train whenever it comes. But this was literally everywhere. I couldn’t open my YouTube feed, Reddit, or news without hearing something about Bird Box. I was getting frustrated. I don’t have that much time to watch films when I want to, so whenever I get that free time I would rather watch something I want. However everyone is talking about this film, and I just thought maybe there was something. I thought maybe it was something controversial, or maybe a concept that had people on both sides loving it or hating it. I thought why not, let me give it a shot. Well. It was an utter waste of time. This film is the definition of anticlimactic. This whole buildup led to nothing. Nothing changed from when I started watching the film to when it ended. I was just like “that’s it?”. No exploration of the lore, no deep dive into the world and the “other people”, NOTHING! The problem is that the film was 2 hours long and it utilized that time so poorly. My god was this a disappointment. I am never stepping foot on the hype train again. It constantly disappoints. Not much else to say. Save yourself two hours and watch something worth your time. Look back at my reviews and find something worthwhile, because this definitely isn’t it.
